Distance Learning at its Best

culinary brothers Esteban (13) & Samuel (15) attend ESSF Culinary Arts middle school & high school (for children with disabilities) as well as the aftercare program sponsored by The Children’s Trust. The brothers are only too happy to show off their culinary skills from home. Remote learning helps the brothers' follow their familiar routines which they both enjoy thoroughly. This week's activity meal was a Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich which the boys made while mom proudly filmed their masterpiece. Watch Esteban’s and Samuel’s culinary video and I’m sure you’ll agree that they did an amazing job!

Joshua Makes Great Strides

joshua 02 Joshua, who is diagnosed with Downs Syndrome, first stepped through the doors of Easterseals South Florida in 2010. At that time, he couldn’t communicate, was nonverbal and would throw himself to the floor. After four years, Joshua, age 20, has incredible skills including operating the dishwasher, sweeping, mopping, table setting, cooking and serving with minimal assistance. He has become very independent and finishes his job.

Great Progress for Jonathan

Spotlight-Jonathan When Jonathan first came to Easter Seals South Florida, he recognized only a few numbers and letters and didn't have many social skills. After a few years of working with Jonathan, he has come so far. Now,at age 11, he is reading chapter books, answering questions and is excelling in math. He can add with three digits, measure, and is working on place value. Jonathon has learned all of the months and holidays, and understands their meaning. Most importantly, his social skills have improved dramatically. Easterseals South Florida is proud of Jonathan’s accomplishments in the classroom. We look forward to continued progress for this sensitive and caring student!
