Ben was nominated for his national role by the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center in Evansville.  He served as our local Easterseals Representative in 2010.

When he was 17, Ben survived a motocross accident and a C-3 spinal cord injury that caused extensive paralysis.  Soon after theben trockman full  accident, he received several months of treatment at some of the nation’s best inpatient facilities.  Then Ben was able to return home because the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center offers the ongoing services he needs to enhance his independence.

The Easterseals Rehabilitation Center continues providing Ben with intensive physical therapy.  In addition, Assistive Technology Solutions at the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center helped to modify the Trockman home for accessibility, facilitated installation of adapted computer equipment and environmental controls, and maintains Ben’s high-tech wheelchair.

One of Ben’s first official duties as National Easterseals Representative was visiting Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to advocate for disability issues.  He traveled to many other locations, including New Orleans, San Diego, and Chicago, to share the mission of Easterseals.

A Harrison High School graduate, Ben received a degree from the University of Southern Indiana in public relations, with a minor in radio and TV broadcasting.  He is now the Community Outreach and Employement Specialist for Old National Bank. Ben is the son of Wayne and Jill Trockman of Evansville and has one brother, Josh.

Only one other local resident has ever been chosen as an Easterseals National Representative.  Sally Coslett of Evansville served in that capacity in 1996.
