Easter Seals Iowa is holding a ribbon cutting for the McAninch Family Aquatic Center June 8 at 4:30 p.m. at Camp Sunnyside, 401 NE 66th Avenue in Des Moines. The public is invited to attend.
The pool was installed in 1962 and was in desperate need of repair to keep it in working order for the hundreds of clients and campers who use the pool year-round at Camp Sunnyside. The pool renovation is a public-private partnership spearheaded by Doug and Donna McAninch of Johnston, IA.
President/CEO of Easter Seals Iowa Sherri Nielsen says, “Our integrated programming at Easter Seals Iowa allows people with and without disabilities, to learn and grow alongside each other. Thanks to our generous community of supporters, and leadership from Doug and Donna McAninch, our new therapy pool is accessible, provides sensory-friendly areas, a splash pad and zero-entry, while promoting health and wellness.”
