Interactive Metronome

Easterseals Eastern Pennsylvania is pleased to provide a specialized outpatient therapy to the pediatric population of Berks County. Interactive Metronome® is an evidence-based assessment and training tool that measures and improves neurotiming. Interactive Metronome® is the only neuromotor therapy tool that can be used successfully with patients across the therapy spectrum such as those with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorder.

Interactive Metronome

The patient, wearing a headset that delivers computer-generated musical beats, performs movement exercises matching the beat with repetitive motor movements. Visual feedback on the computer screen allows users to chart their performances so that real-time adjustments can be made.

Interactive Metronome® trains the brain to plan, sequence and process information more effectively. It automates the cognitive functions that influence memory, attention, visual and auditory processing, language skills and cognition, as well as motor coordination, balance, gait and fine-motor skills.

Timing in the brain is critical to speech, language and cognitive function. Timing is also the basis for attention, working memory and processing speed, all of which are critical for proper childhood development.

Easterseals Eastern Pennsylvania is the only rehabilitation facility in Berks County using Interactive Metronome® with the pediatric population. Children with disabilities often require a variety of therapeutic solutions and we strive to offer the latest intervention and assistive technology to help our consumers reach the highest levels of independence. We are grateful to the Comcast Foundation for providing a grant that enabling us to purchase this equipment.
