Community Supports

Home and community-based habilitation services

Community Supports Services (Habilitation) enables adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to enrich their lives, enjoy a full range of activities in the community, and explore and engage in meaningful and purposeful activities based on personal preferences and needs. Each participant receives individual assistance from a direct support professional to engage in a variety of activities, from performing the functions of daily living to volunteering and pursuing educational, social, and recreation opportunities. Now serving residents of Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton and Pike counties.

Only at Easterseals!
We offer an activity fund so that financial barriers will not prohibit you from achieving your aspirations or goals. Participants have used the fund to take classes, join the YMCA, attend a baseball game, visit a museum and more. You can read about one participant’s experience here. Let us open doors to new opportunities for you.

Community-based experiences and activities:
VOLUNTEERING. Use your skills and talents to help nonprofit organizations with missions that line up with your interests. Love pets? Help take care of them at the local shelter. What about serving others? The food pantries could use your help! The opportunities are endless.

RECREATION AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES. Explore your community and the many fun and interesting things available where you live. Enjoy current hobbies and find new ones. Fitness classes, bowling, movies, baseball, hockey, theater, music and more are at your doorstep. We also organize group activities so you can socialize with friends and meet new people.

COMMUNITY ACCESS. Learn how to access your community by developing skills that support independence, like how to use public transportation, do your shopping, recycle, manage a budget, do your laundry – or whatever else you want to learn!
