Easterseals Colorado's Rocky Mountain Village Camp (RMV) in Empire, Colorado is regarded as one of the top Easterseals camps in the country. RMV is fully accessible and used by more than 1,200 children and adults with disabilities throughout the year. RMV is about all the things children and adults CAN do -- campers enjoy swimming, fishing, overnight camping, outdoor cooking, travel camp, day trips, arts & crafts, sports and recreation, hiking, dances, music & drama, horse-back riding, and riding the zip-line. Our camp provides a safe, barrier-free environment for children and adults to experience all aspects of camp without usual limitations. During the off-season, RMV hosts seven R&R weekend respites at camp and also functions as a rental and retreat facilty for groups and individuals.
Dear Campers and Families,
Since its inception 69 years ago, Rocky Mountain Village Camp, a program of Easterseals Colorado, has been dedicated to its campers of all ages and abilities. Rocky Mountain Village (RMV) has witnessed firsthand how the camp experience has helped campers to create life-long friendships, overcome barriers, reach milestones and experience the outdoors in a place that many have called home.
Through this COVID-19 pandemic, various scenarios have been created, analyzed, scrutinized, and evaluated to figure out how Easterseals Colorado could safely run summer camp under the regulations and guidelines provided by State authorities. After careful consideration we have made a tough decision following the order given by Governor Polis this week. For the first time in history, Easterseals Colorado Rocky Mountain Village will NOT be holding camp for the 2020 summer season.
Easterseals Colorado recognizes this presents a challenge to many families who have already made deposits and/or summer plans to have their loved one attend camp. Easterseals Colorado has provided several options to help families and Rocky Mountain Village move forward:
1. Donate your deposit to assist Camp in facility maintenance and upkeep.
2. Use your deposit for future programming opportunities.
3. Receive a full refund of your deposit.
Please contact Jessica Garcia, RMV Office Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org to identify how you would like your deposit used no later than September 1, 2020.
In addition, Easterseals Colorado is exploring other opportunities to provide you and your families the joy of the outdoors at Rocky Mountain Village. Some options being considered are family day camps and small group rentals. More information to come.
If Easterseals Colorado has learned anything through our long camp history, it’s that Rocky Mountain Village and its campers ALWAYS persevere and we are looking forward to the time when we will be together again; fishing, hiking, crafting and ziplining.
All of us at Easterseals Colorado continue to wish you safety, health and happiness during this challenging time.
During the non-summer season, RMV provides 7 R&R weekends. Campers come up to Rocky Mountain Village to get away and relax while giving their families a short rest from care-giving. Stay tuned this fall for the respite schedule for the upcoming off-season.
