Easterseals Iowa is thrilled to be entering a partnership with the Polk County Region to provide residential and community-based crisis stabilization services for children ages 18 and under. We understand the great community need for better mental health for children in our country and are happy to help move the needle towards that goal. Currently, Iowa is ranked 22nd in the nation for suicide per 100,000 persons. This issue has been steadily increasing since the year 2000 with girls 11 to 14 seeing an increase that is nearly double. At Easterseals we have seen first-hand that having the right services at the right time is the difference between surviving and thriving. We know when a child and their family get the supports they need, they are able to live with hope and independence. We want to make sure that no family or child is left scared or unsupported as they manage a brain health crisis.

Residential programming will be provided at existing space at Camp Sunnyside and staffed 24/7 by highly trained professionals who will provide supervision, support and skill development services. Community based services will be provided throughout Polk County by the same team lead by Director of Brain Health- Tony Raymer, LISW, RPT-S. We are thankful to Polk County for stepping up to address this issue, and for selecting us to provide these much-needed services.
