Child Development Center Testimonials

Jen Gebhart

"Our son has been a part of the Easter Seals daycare/preschool program for the past two and a half years. We have been so fortunate to have found such a caring group of teachers to care for our son, Jace. We feel he has grown so much and learned a lot. The quality of care is top notch! I like the Character Counts curriculum and the preschool curriculum that is used. There were many fun activities for kids including swimming on Fridays and horseback riding as well. We will definitely miss seeing all the caregivers. I would highly recommend this program without any reservations. This is definitely a place where you can leave your child and feel at peace going to work."

"We have been extremely satisfied with the experience our family has had with the Child Development Center. The staff are great to work with and truly care about our children. They provide the love, security and curriculum our children needed to grow. The Child Development Center is one of the most unique centers in Des Moines. Nowhere else were our children able to ride horses, take boat rides, swim year-round and enjoy nature. Our kids benefit from the summer camp experience throughout the year! We could not be happier with the experience and the impact the center has had on our children."

"Our kids have flourished at Child Development Center! When our son entered kindergarten we were thrilled to learn that he had already mastered many of the skills necessary for his first year of school. We believe the emphasis his center teachers placed on using a structured curriculum in every classroom, as well as utilizing the beautiful setting and resources at Camp Sunnyside to enforce learning, played a large part in his readiness.

When our three-year-old comes home with grass-stained knees, and a little bit of dirt to round out her look, we know she has had a great day. The adventures and tales of learning she shares while spending time riding Dream the pony, visiting the petting zoo, taking a nature walk, swimming at the pool or spending time on Lake Cheerio is a benefit we know doesn't exist at any other metro daycare and preschool. Imagine our surprise when on the first beautiful summer day at the pool last year she demonstrated that she could "doggie paddle" and "swim under water". Now that is education you just don't expect from traditional schools!

Most importantly compassion, tolerance and patience are just a few attributes my children have acquired from having an opportunity to play, learn and grow with children of all abilities! We know the education they have gained from living this experience far outweighs just hearing or reading about it at home.

We also applaud the center team for utilizing Character Counts. Implementing a framework of basic values for our little ones called the Six Pillars of Character: (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship). They are a team who believes in helping developing habits, attitudes and attributes of our children now to help position them well for their future!"
