Leading by Example, Leaving a Legacy of Support

Taylor Family

When Eric Taylor came to pave a road at Camp Sunnyside as a pro bono job for his father’s construction company, he didn’t know the clients and families served by the organization were about to take hold of his heart.

“At the time, my wife Jenny and I were raising a young family. Seeing children with and without disabilities learning together in the Child Development Center and watching everything going on at Camp that summer made it really easy to start caring about the mission of Easter Seals Iowa,” Eric says.

Since that time Eric has served on the Easter Seals Iowa Board of Directors and currently serves on the Foundation Board. He and Jenny have left a percentage of their estate to benefit Easter Seals Iowa.

“When you see what’s going on, how Easter Seals Iowa serves clients and gives them opportunities just like everyone else, it’s a need I hope everyone could get behind,” Eric says.

Modeling how to leave a legacy to their three daughters is also a factor in the Taylors’ giving.

Eric says, “We’re raising our children to be independent and gainfully employed. I want them to see there’s a reason you’re working. Beyond just your own needs, there are things you can do with your money to help others. I hope this example will impact them and remind them of that.”
