Easterseals Tennessee provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy services to children starting at 18 months old with a qualifying diagnosis.
Our clinicians implement evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques with our clients. The therapeutic process involves an assessment, individualized planning, and implementation of services once a plan of care has been established. Therapy is delivered directly one-on-one by our therapists and supervision is provided by Board Certified Behavior Analysts. We also provide caregiver training to equip and support you with the tools you need to promote independence and implement effective behavior intervention strategies at home with your child.
While we will work with families in a variety of settings, our specialty and focus is our Autism Therapy Centers. At these locations, we offer comprehensive treatment packages that focus on multiple skills for children aged 2-8 years of age. This setting is more intensive for children, and limits distracting elements that may be present in other settings. Children at these centers typically receive more than 15 hours weekly. This setting is most ideal for children aged 2-5 who would benefit from structured support that follows an organized routine. Through the use of evidence-based skill assessments, we determine individualized goals that target developmental skills such as communication, responding to instruction, reciprocal interaction with others, and many more! While addressing these goals we also simultaneously work to decrease challenging behaviors that may interfere with these skills.
We currently have Autism Therapy Centers in Brentwood, Cleveland, Lebanon, and Lexington.
ABA is most commonly used as a treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders. While ABA does not cure a child with ASD, it does help to develop the child's abilities to respond more effectively to their environment. Autism is a developmental disorder that greatly impacts the individuals' ability to communicate and engage in appropriate social interactions. Because autism is a spectrum disorder, each person with autism has their own unique strengths and challenges. It is up to the family and clinical team to discover these strengths and challenges. By knowing their individual strengths and challenges, we can support each client in the way that they learn best.
ABA is an evidence-based treatment used to increase skill acquisition and to decrease challenging behaviors in individuals. It is currently the most effective form of therapy for people on the autism spectrum. ABA uses various principles such as positive reinforcement, task analysis, prompt fading, preference assessments, shaping, discrimination training, and more to bring about meaningful changes in the participating individual and their families. At Easter Seals Tennessee we utilize various ABA teaching procedures including Verbal Behavior, Discrete Trial Training (DTT), and Natural Environment Training (NET).
