Easterseals is committed to the successful reintegration of Active Military, National Guard, Reserve, Veterans, and their families into all aspects of civilian life. Easterseals employs innovative strategies and expertise, coupled with a supportive 1:1 customized service model, tailored specifically to the individual’s needs. Most services are free of charge for our members or offered on an affordable sliding fee scale.
Employment & Financial Stability
The needs of veterans/servicemembers & military families are evolving, not disappearing. With over 70 years of expertise and experience, award winning Easterseals Capital Region & Eastern CT is committed to working with veterans and their families to secure employment. It is through job placement that veterans can achieve self-sufficiency and independence.
On-site CT Veteran Service Officer
CT Veteran Service Officer on-site one day a week to answer any questions concerning benefits, what services are available to them, and to assist with VA claims.
Computer Center
We provide 1:1 customized support and small group computer 101 classes. Members are welcome to come in anytime during office hours to use the computer lab.
Educational & Job Skill Training
Individuals are offered the training needed to meet the requirements of various employment opportunities. Services include interview preparedness including resume and cover letter development, computer basics and applications, office etiquette and interpersonal communication and organizational skills. There is a weekly Employment Workshop where our partners in the community come in to talk about their employment openings and assist in filling out applications.
Legal Services
Once a month a local area legal firm offers their knowledge and expert advice to Members. For qualified candidates, Easterseals offers free legal services to cover a variety of needs.
Peer Meetup Group
Weekly meeting for all VRP Members and family. Join us for conversation and refreshments. Members sign up to speak about a hobby or share their story with the group; Veteran agencies come in to share about their programs; staff create ice breaker games and themed topics to get people talking. Something different every week! A safe place to gather with old friends and meet some new ones.
Financial Assistance
At Easterseals, we understand that there are circumstances in life that result in veterans/servicemembers needing a “hand up” to get back on track and continue their journey. A free personal finance management program, made up of three one-on-one-one-hour sessions, is required, along with a full financial history before being considered.
Clothing Closet & Food Pantry
Easterseals provides a free on-site Clothing Closet that is available to Military, Veterans, & their families. A Food Pantry stocked with non-perishable food items is also available to Members.
Behavioral Health Services
For many of the brave men and women currently serving Military and Veterans, the journey home can be complicated and challenging. An onsite Certified Veteran Peer Specialist is available for confidential one-on-one appointments. Referrals for professional assistance are made on a case-by-case basis.
Caregiver Support
Easterseals recognizes that family members and caregivers of veterans/servicemembers also need help. If you are caring for one of these brave men or women, call Easterseals for support and guidance.
Case Management
Case management is a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluations and advocacy for options and services to meet veterans/servicemembers comprehensive health needs.
Substance Abuse Counseling
Substance Abuse Counseling is another tool you can use to support your journey to lasting addiction recovery. You know you want to overcome addiction, but you don’t necessarily know how, what to do or where to start. Meet with the onsite Peer Specialist for more information. Easterseals understands the process of recovery and is there to guide you through. AA meetings are held weekly on-site.
Transitional Housing
Eligible Military, Veterans and their families can apply for temporary transitional housing at VRP II in Rocky Hill. With a roof over their head and a warm bed at night, individuals can focus on putting together a resume, finding employment, and finding the stability they need to move on to live their best lives.
Referrals
Individuals receive Rally Point services following a self-referral or a referral from one of our collaborative partners including: CT DVA, CT National Guard, DOL, DMHAS, and Federal & State VA. A DD214 and photo ID is required.
