Nordstrom Steps Up to Help Senior Job Seekers

Easterseals clients in a training

Easterseals Oregon offers a tremendous thank you to Nordstrom for their partnership in helping seniors who are trying to reenter the job market. The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) offers job training and assistance to those 55 and older who are currently unemployed but seeking work. Participants in the program receive hands on work experience through a large network of partner agencies, as well as individualized help with resumes, interview techniques and specific training.

Recently the Clackamas, Oregon Nordstrom hosted a day of employment training and personal shopping for clients in the program. Nordstrom Store Manager Sadie Voeks and HR Manager Retha Warren presented a 1.5-hour interactive training covering relevant topics such as interviewing, multi-generational workplaces, workplace culture, online applications, appropriate interview attire and customer service. Following that, participants were matched with a Nordstrom sales associate to begin a personal shopping experience for interview clothing. Nordstrom even provided two personal stylists to help find the perfect interview outfit!

The services provided by Easterseals Oregon would not be possible without the support of the community, and we salute Nordstrom for their generous commitment to making a difference in the lives of our clients!
