Art at ESL Chartwell

Arts Integration is an integral part of programming at ESLCC and has distinct benefits for individuals with Autism. Along with regular music therapy, ESLCC hosts an artist-in-residence every semester. The artist-in-residence guides our students in creative endeavors tailored to their abilities and centered around the visual arts.

For some students, music therapy and art teach fine motor skills and imitation and serve as an appropriate outlet for their sensory needs. For others, it is an emotional outlet and a way to communicate. For most students, it’s all of the above. Our goal is for each student to have the opportunity to explore their creativity and be part of Louisiana's signature art culture.
