Vanessa Hunter

Vanessa Hunter, Director of Residential and Social Services of Easterseals Joliet Region, has dedicated her career and lifestyle to residential alternatives for children and adults with disabilities, those with special needs, and their families.  Following receipt of a bachelors degree in Child Development & Family Relations and a masters degree in Mental Health Administration from Northern Illinois University, Vanessa began her career in Human services both in a government capacity and in the private sector.  She became Easter Seals Residential Director in 1988 focusing on the agency’s Foster Care and CILA programs.  Since that time, she has provided leadership to Easterseals foster-adoptive program, the development of residential services for adults with developmental disabilities, the initiation of a home-based children’s program, the implementation of Cila alternatives, the initiation of behavioral services, and the enhancement of nursing.

Ms Hunter is trained and credentialed in a number of areas relative to the highly regulated programs she leads.  Vanessa has maintained her QIDP credentials and is a credentialed administrator with DCFS for purposes of the Child Welfare Program.  Her most recent training was through the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership.  As a result of her advocacy, hundreds of individuals have opportunities for improved lives.
