Recreation and respite programs are offered in Berks County and the Lehigh Valley.

Whether your child’s goal is to increase communication, enhance social skills, make new friends, learn to walk, or improve feeding skills, our qualified educators, physical and occupational therapists, and speech pathologists are experienced in working with young children with unique needs and abilities.

Early Intervention (birth to age three)
Our Early Intervention services are designed to promote child development and to minimize the impact of disability while coaching parents and caregivers on how to build on their child’s strengths. We offer eligible children ages birth to three a variety of supports, including special instruction, behavioral services, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy and vision services. We provide EI services to toddlers with a diagnosis of ASD as well as those who may be on the spectrum, but do not have a diagnosis.

Make the First Five Count (birth to age five)
If you are concerned that your child’s development may not be progressing as expected, our Make the First Five Count program offers free online screening tools for children from birth through age 5. A local Easterseals child specialist will contact you to review the results. If a delay is suspected, our team will connect you with local resources that can help.

Outpatient Therapy
We offer outpatient physical and occupational therapy for children and young adults at our center in Reading. Children receive help with coordination, handwriting, social skills, and sensory integration. Others work on walking, flexibility, balance and receive help with wheelchairs and walkers. Visit our Outpatient Therapy webpage to learn more about our services and approach.

Therapeutic Groups
Easterseals Eastern PA offers therapeutic groups for children to help them build new skills in a small group setting. The groups are led by our qualified physical and occupational therapists and speech pathologists who are experienced in working with young children with unique needs and abilities. Our schedule of programs varies as we continue to develop new offerings.

Specialty Clinics
Our specialty medical clinics offer the quality services of medical professionals who work with children who have complex medical needs. Specialists from Berks County and Philadelphia come to our center in Reading to provide free care to children who need these services. Clinics include orthopedics and neurology. In addition, two different orthotic specialists make custom orthotic braces for children of all ages. Easterseals offers Spanish translation and helps families manage their child’s care. We also offer an Autism Diagnosis Clinic once a month through a unique collaboration with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia utilizing telemedicine technology to conduct onsite evaluations.

Summer Camps
We offer two day camps, Camp Lily Berks and Camp Lily Lehigh Valley. We are dedicated to enriching the lives of campers through an atmosphere of caring, dedication, integration and acceptance. Offered in a series of one-week sessions from July through August, Camp Lily is jam-packed with fun, safe activities that are appropriate for kids age 8 through young adult.

We also offer an overnight camp, Easterseals Camp Growing Green, held on the beautiful campus of the Pocono Environmental Education Center in the Pocono Mountains. Overnight camp provides incredible opportunities for growth and development in a safe, nurturing environment staffed by Easterseals trained counselors. Growing Green runs for 6 weeks each summer and campers attend for one or more weeks. Campers must be at least 10 years old to attend.

Saturday Respite
Respite allows families and caregivers to enjoy a well-deserved break. Our program is designed to provide your loved one with a social and recreational experience, and provide you with a day to take care of other responsibilities, have fun or just recharge. We offer programs in Reading and the Lehigh Valley that run from September through May of each year.
