Easter Seals RI “Walk With Me” Raises $50,000 for Children and Young Adults with Disabilities & Special Needs

Wakefield, RI — The 11th Annual Walk With Me for Easter Seals RI was an afternoon to remember, not only for Easter Seals but all the participants and sponsors too. Over 300 dedicated supporters attended the Walk that may be short on mileage but is big on heart on Saturday, May 18, and raised $50,000 for children and young adults who receive services from Easter Seals RI.

Many local and national businesses sponsored the Walk including CVS Caremark, Century 21 Access America, Mass Mutual, AC Moore, Cabot Creamery, Coast 93.3 FM, Dunkin Donuts, Kellogg’s, Lawrence and Associates, Pawtucket Red Sox, Pepsi, Panera Bread and Catering, Raymour and Flanigan, Southern RI Newspapers, Staples, Subway, and Willow Tree Poultry Farm.

Participants enjoyed the carnival-infused walk and atmosphere at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick, complete with Tony the Tiger and Paws from the Pawtucket Red Sox, entertainment by Kenny Kool Light and Sound and give-a-ways from our awesome vendors such as CVS Caremark, Century 21, Mass Mutual, Dave and Buster’s, Tutor Doctor, S.T.E.P., AC Moore craft tent, Kangaroo Kids face painting, pony rides from C&L Stables, and Animal Rescue League of Southern RI doggie watering station. Much appreciation for the continued support and delicious food from Subway, Willow Tree Farms, Roch’s Market, Dunkin Donuts, GaGa’s Sherbetter, Panera, and Cabot Cheese.

Over 30 teams registered for the Walk including the addition of so many new local teams such as Lawrence and Associates, Kohl’s of Seekonk, S.T.E.P., Tutor Doctor, Century 21 Access America Newport, Century 21 Rondeau Associates, SBR Network, and our newest child ambassador team, Team Mason, who had over 30 supporters walk alongside him!

“The support we receive from participants, businesses and our sponsors is a vital part to the success of the programs offered at Easter Seals RI,” said Judy Fortier, Director of Development. “It is incredible to see the level of support in this community for children with disabilities and special needs. Thank you to everyone who participated in this event!”

If you were unable to attend the Walk and still have donations to turn in, it’s not too late! The money raised supports Easter Seals RI programs and services and ensures that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. Easter Seals served more than 400 children and young adults throughout the state last year, and will continue to serve those in need.
