Autism Treatment Program

While there is no known cause or cure for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Easter Seals North Texas provides evidence-based intervention for children and their families living with ASD. We help teach children with ASD new skills so that they may be as independent and successful as possible.

What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental disability that is characterized by challenges in social interaction, communication, and repetitive or restricted interests. Individuals with ASD will often not learn independently without appropriate, effective treatment.* The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that about 1 in 88 children has been identified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Autism Treatment Program

Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), we utilize the evidence-based strategies of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for the treatment of ASD. This includes treatment in all deficit areas as identified through assessment and observation. The ability to teach new skills and find appropriate alternatives for challenging behavior—documented in a wide variety of peer-reviewed research studies over several decades—has made ABA the standard of care for the treatment of ASD*.

Our Autism Treatment Program has two service options:

Children enrolled in our comprehensive services receive individualized ABA services through one-on-one instruction with multiple opportunities to participate in group activities. These services are supervised by a BCBA and include individualized programming for each child that is developed to target all areas of need and to teach across all developmental domains. Parents or caregivers of children enrolled in this program will also participate in regular training sessions.

Great Strides

Great Strides is a focused service for children ages 2 through 7. The purpose of this program is to teach foundational skills that prepare each child for future learning, developing social relationships, and increasing success across all environments. Primary areas targeted include engagement, imitation, functional communication, and instructional relationships.

All programming is individualized to the child’s needs and therapy is one-on-one with a trained ABA therapist. Programming is developed and overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Parent training is also a component to this service line and parents are required to attend two parent trainings per month.
