Adult/Senior Services FAQ

We are always here to answer any questions that you may have about our Adult or Senior Services. Below are some of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) by families.

General

Are all adult services offered in the home?

While our services are offered in a variety of locations, our Outpatient Rehabilitation is only offered in our North Dallas center.

CLASS Case Management

How does someone get on the Medicaid waiver interest list?

You must contact the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) by calling 1-877-438-5658 and provide them with the necessary information.  Please note that receiving Medicaid waiver services is not a quick process.  At present, the interest list for these services is approximately 8 – 10 years long.  However, it is important to get your name on the list as soon as possible.

Can someone be on CLASS and another Medicaid waiver program, such as HCS or MDCP, at the same time?

No, there is a list of programs that cannot run concurrently.  A person is not able to have two Medicaid Waiver Programs at the same time.

Does someone have to qualify for Medicaid before they can become a CLASS person?

No, during the process of enrollment for the CLASS program, family income is not taken into consideration when qualifying one for Medicaid.  You do have to have Medicaid to receive CLASS, however, being approved for CLASS is actually what makes one qualify for Medicaid.

Home Care Services

Is there any assistance available to help me and my family pay for this service?

Occasionally, Easterseals North Texas receives grants and special funds that allow us to assist individuals with their respite and personal care needs at a greatly reduced rate. Please contact Lynn Boyd, Program Director, to see if you may qualify.

How does Easterseals North Texas screen the employees providing this service?

At Easterseals North Texas, we take the screening of our in-home care providers very seriously. Prior to hiring, all potential employees must pass an extensive, multi-state background check and pass a drug test. In addition, prior to hire and then each month thereafter, we check to ensure that none of our in-home care providers appear on the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services Employee Misconduct Registry.
