Meet Romell

2023

Romell is a 22-year-old student with Autism who recently graduated from our Culinary Arts program. He started in the Easterseals Academy when he was in middle school. Romell has been attending the Culinary Arts Program since August 2016 and this year he graduated with high honors. He has been an excellent student and asset to the program. Romell has become a mature, responsible, caring and sensitive young man. He communicates with others in a gracious, polite and respectful manner and can hold an intelligent conversation with peers and adults. He was one of our best students in his graduating class and was able to skillfully answer questions and perform well in job interviews.

While enrolled in our program, Romell gained many skills, such as cooking preparation.   He was able to do many jobs in the kitchen independently, such as setting up tables and keeping the kitchen clean and tidy.

Romell is always willing to participate in extra job tasks when requested and takes a great deal of pride in his work. He has been working in our AmeriCorps program for three years and he is doing an amazing job. His supervisor is always expressing how Romell works with the elderly and how he treats them all with care, respect, and dignity.
