An Opportunity to Give Back to Oregon

After receiving a flier for local debris clean up from the recent wildfires, one of our Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) Employment Specialists - James Ackland - began referring some of our enrolled veterans to the open interviews at the local convention center.  After receiving feedback that our participants were unable to locate this potential employer, James was undeterred.

Making the Connection

James went the extra mile when he went down to the convention center himself in hopes of developing a relationship with CDR Maguire and obtaining better directions to locate them within the building. Fortunately, James was able to touch base with Debi Nissen, the Human Resources Business Partner with CDR Maguire.

A Growing Partnership

Over the next five weeks, James referred ten veterans to CDR Maguire, five of which have started new positions with the company and three of which are in the process of undergoing background checks for positions at the time this article is being written. Further, with the success of the veterans who became employed, CDR Maguire also let the Salem/Albany HVRP teams know of their open positions in other Oregon counties so that relationships could be built with each local HVRP office.

Success From All Angles

All of our veterans employed by CDR Maguire have expressed their appreciation for their new positions and how much they are enjoying their new roles! We are so pleased to have had the opportunity to partner with such a wonderful company and hope to be able to continue working with them in the future.
