Meet Austin - Our Youngest Friend of Easterseals Yet!

Austin Welch Story of Hope

Earlier this month, you may have noticed a few photos of  William "Austin" Welch in our recap of the 3rd Annual ESL Golf Classic. We thought that Austin deserved a little more recognition for his outstanding efforts to support Easterseals. While his dad played with Team CVS in the golf tournament, young Austin decided he wanted to do his part to help raise funds for Easterseals as well. With a plea to be "put to work" Austin and his older brother volunteered their time during the tournament going from hole to hole selling ESL golf towels to the more than 80 golfers we had playing in the tournament. In total, this remarkable young man raised $450 to be donated to ESL to help other kids who need life altering services for their disabilities. Though Austin has Cerebral Palsy, he didn't let that stop him from hitting every hole during the tournament and doing his part. In the end, it was Austin who received a round of applause for his efforts from the golfers. Check out the photos below of this extraordinary young man and hear what our Events & Fundraising Director, Bernie Bitting, had to say about our youngest Friend of Easterseals to date!

"Austin is a giver!  He came out wanting to help make our golf tournament a success.  What strength from a 13 year old.  He asked every golfer for a donation to Easterseals to help others like him.  He didn’t ask to help him but others!  Thank you Austin for making me a better person, you are a hero to Easterseals!"
