Chief Development Officer
Easter Seals Iowa (Des Moines)

Krable MentzerKrable Mentzer, who is the Chief Development Officer at Easter Seals Iowa, is inspired by seeing people of all ages with disabilities gain further independence. Her ultimate goal at Easter Seals Iowa is to help them go on to lead meaningful and independent lives in their communities.

“The children in particular are so wonderful to see,” Mentzer exclaims. “It warms the heart when you see a child make a new friend, ride a horse for the first time or become less shy and participate in a talent show.”

Mentzer wishes more people knew about the services available to them and how they can even receive some services for free. Many people who come into her facility are young parents just trying to navigate life as best they can, and having a child with a disability can make getting by even more overwhelming. “However, with early intervention, children who are developing at a slower pace can ultimately have the same quality of life as their peers,” said Mentzer.

Though Mentzer hasn’t had training in health services, she received her bachelor’s degree in public relations and has a minor in journalism. She has done several media interviews on behalf of Easter Seals and looks forward to doing more in the future.
