Jennifer Friesen
Vice President of Therapeutic and Autism Services
Easter Seals North Texas (Dallas/Ft. Worth)

Jennifer FriesenJennifer Friesen is a Speech-Language Pathologist that has worked in the public schools, private practice, and non-profit outpatient rehabilitation centers. She has worked at Easter Seals since July 2001: first with Easter Seals Central Texas, and then with Easter Seals North Texas. She currently serves as the VP of Therapeutic and Autism Services at Easter Seals North Texas, overseeing the Outpatient Rehabilitation Program, Autism Treatment Program Texas Star Academy, and the Outreach/Training Program.

When she was in elementary school, Friesen clearly remembers walking down the hallway of her school to go to speech therapy to work on her “r” sound. Growing up, she always knew that she wanted to work with children and began college as an Elementary Education major. It wasn’t until after visiting the Speech-Language and Hearing clinic to gain observation hours, that she realized she wanted to become a speech-language pathologist. As she began practicing, her interests grew increasingly strong in the areas of language development and social skills; working in early-intervention services for children seemed to be a natural fit. She has been working with individuals with special needs, including young children and individuals with Autism, for more than 10 years.

Friesen enjoys learning from and working with her strong clinical team at Easter Seals North Texas. She strongly feels that each client is able to make the most progress when all team members, including the family and teachers, work together and has seen firsthand the amazing growth the clients make when given appropriate services, particularly when those services are started early in life. Friesen is grateful to be able to work for an organization that provides such strong national support, the opportunity to work with colleagues from other affiliates and has the ability to form collaborations with other universities, community groups and corporations.

Friesen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas, Austin and a Masters of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas, Dallas.
