Easterseals’ School Program for Children with Special Needs in Pittsburgh looks for a new way to reach prospective parents and referring agencies.
Due to the challenges we all face today with Covid-19 and the restrictions associated with normal everyday business, we have had to postpone the Grand Opening for our new South School location twice, in the Spring of 2020 and again in Fall, 2020. Planning for activities is virtually impossible. So instead, we chose to bring the community celebration to our neighbors, parents, and prospective clients by mailing a “Grand Opening Box”. It is a box full of things associated with a celebration like noise makers and confetti, Easterseals’ pens, candy and most importantly cards with photographs and descriptions of various aspects of our new school, all narrated by one of our Easterseals’ students. She describes getting off the bus and going into her new classroom and how she likes the bright color red and all the windows. She talks about physical therapy and the progress she is making.
While it is not the personal connection we typically enjoy when hosting a community celebration, it is critical that we stay connected to our partners and prospects. Thinking about how we manage business in a restricted environment, means being open to new ways of doing things. And we, in the Pittsburgh School Program, are all working to embrace that concept in every aspect of what we do.
