Independent Living Through Wilson Court & Waiver Services

Matthew Prickett Spotlight

Wilson Court, one of our apartment communities, has helped Matthew gain an independent lifestyle. A place where he can live like any other 35-year-old doing the things he loves in life – hanging with friends listening to music, watching movies, and getting plenty of rest for his next bowling tournament. On top of a bookcase with photos of loved ones and a collection of media entertainment are many bowling trophies from tournaments at Professor Bowl. Currently, his team is in first place.

Matthew, a Hall High School graduate, has lived at Wilson Court for 13 years. Helping him maintain this independent lifestyle are employees through our in-home Medicaid Waiver services. His favorite things to do with these friends include Starbucks runs – white chocolate mocha is Matthew’s preferred drink unless it’s the holidays, during which he opts for the peppermint mocha. Library trips and Goodwill shopping hunts also top his list of activities with his Waiver companions as well as workouts at Jim Dailey Fitness & Aquatic Center. He also says he enjoys the dedicated Wilson Court van that takes Matthew and his buddies to fun outings, such as dances at our Center for Training & Wellness and day trips to Park Plaza Mall.

“Easterseals and Wilson Court have helped Matthew be as independent as he can be,” says his mother, Carolyn. “And it’s so nice to have the extra support with cleaning and maintenance.”
