Alex Barber, Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA), has been an ESCC team since January of 2014. Alex began his career with us in the Autism and Behavior Intervention Services (ABI) department as a Behavior Consultant, providing ABA services to students and trainings to staff in the Pajaro Valley Unified School District. In August of 2017, Alex transitioned into the position of Clinical Manager of the Central Coast’s ABI department. In addition, he serves as a Behavior Consultant within our Educational Services department, providing support to staff working 1:1 with students and assists individual students who need additional support within the Santa Cruz area.

Alex, a Wisconsin native, who came to the Santa Cruz area with his family eight years ago from Hayward, Wisconsin. He has three siblings - an older sister and brother, and a younger sister. Alex now lives in the Santa Cruz area with his love Molly, and their daughter Amalie who is four years old.

Alex’s favorite sport is hockey; he has been skating since he was just three years old. A fond memory he has of his childhood was when he scored a hat trick in the Pee Wee A state championship game…which they ended up winning! Listening to music, collecting vinyl records, and DJ-ing are also some favorite pastimes of Alex. Alex also spends a great deal of time enjoying the beautiful coastal outdoors with his family.

Alex never hesitates to provide his exceptional knowledge and skills to help grow and support our ESCC team, “Through empowering the individuals I work with, I am able to support them in growing to become more independent in their homes and communities. This role I have in providing a specialized support to those who need and want it, inspires me to reach out to as many people as I possibly can.”

Most recently, Alex has been integral to the expansion efforts of our ABI program and newly renovated center (opening late January). Time and again, he has leaned in to whatever task is before him… from moving furniture, painting walls, inventorying supplies and training new staff. We are thankful for his commitment to advancing the mission.

“Alex has become an invaluable member of the team! His dedication to Easterseals, his profession and our clients can be seen in his work every day.”
