Camp Hemlocks
From campfire sing-a-longs and s’mores, to boating, nature walks or strolls, swimming, and sleeping under the stars, Camp Hemlocks provides the same excitement and activities available in any traditional summer camp. The difference? Camp Hemlocks campers experience the joys and challenges of camp in a fully accessible setting with trained staff providing physical, social, and emotional care.
Camp Hemlocks is a fully accessible, barrier-free, summer-camp facility located on 100 acres of unspoiled woodlands surrounding Jones Pond in Hebron, Connecticut. Camp Hemlocks is located 20 miles south east of Hartford and very easily accessible by car.
Campers choose from a wide variety of social, recreational and educational activities during their stay. Some of their favorite activities include talent shows, arts & crafts, outdoor living skills, boating & fishing, a challenge course, and the climbing tower. Swimming is also an integral part of out camp experience. Campers are encouraged, sometimes for the first time in their lives, to move without restriction in our fully accessible, heated indoor pool.
Camp Hemlocks is the place where people of all ages with various disabilities realize their dreams and strive to reach their highest potential! Campers are encouraged to make new friends, learn new skills and challenge themselves in a fun and safe environment which encourages independence and self reliance.
