Going Beyond Reflection
This report is not just a look back, it is a call to continue.
This first half of the year brought deep challenges throughout Easterseals. Services don’t exist in isolation. When one kind of support is cut, its effects can ripple and negatively impact the communities and individuals we serve. With critical supports like SNAP (food assistance), the impact spreads far beyond just food.
Losing SNAP can mean having to use money set aside for transportation, medicine, or disability-related care just to buy groceries. When supports like accessible transit, housing help, or personal care are impacted at the same time, the stress on families can add up fast.
People with disabilities often rely on a mix of programs just to get through daily life. When any piece is taken away or made harder to get to, the rest gets harder to manage. A cut to one service can put more pressure on every other system—and on families, caregivers, and communities.
Changes in the law don’t always mean things change overnight for everyone.
For some, life and access to services may stay the same for now. For others, small adjustments may already be happening. We want to hear from people on the ground about what’s going on.
