Statement on Senate Passage of Tax and Domestic Policy Bill

This bill will remove the support foundation that millions of people with disabilities, kids, caregivers, and older adults rely on, particularly in small towns and rural communities across America. We’re facing one of the largest, quickest backslides to the lives of millions of Americans with disabilities we’ve ever seen.  This has all happened so quickly, and at such a large scale, that it can be hard to fully grasp what is at stake and what the rippling effects will be in the days and years to come 

The direction is clear: With over $900 billion in cuts to Medicaid in the Senate-passed bill, the ability of people with disabilities to get care, jobs, transportation, and so much more is on the line. The House now has an opportunity to at least pause and consider the implications, and fix some of the most damaging things before their many constituents suffer.  Should this become law, we’re all going to have to work together to fix the many problems this bill will create in the coming years.
