Feb. 9, 2023 — WHEELING, W.Va. — Three local restaurants are giving Easterseals Rehabilitation Center clients more than just pizza to celebrate on National Pizza Day.

Greco’s in Wheeling and both Original PJ’s Pizza locations in Moundsville and New Martinsville are donating $1 to Easterseals for every pizza sold on National Pizza Day, which is Thursday, Feb. 9.

“We are excited to celebrate National Pizza Day and be able to help support Easterseals, which provides a vital service to the Ohio Valley community,” Greco’s owner Eric Bennett said.

“We are thrilled that Greco’s and PJ’s have decided to give back to their communities on National Pizza Day,” Easterseals marketing director Betsy Bethel-McFarland said. “Easterseals has been able to continue serving children with disabilities for 85 years because of exactly this type of grassroots community support.”

Easterseals has created life-changing solutions for tens of thousands of children with physical and developmental disabilities and their families in the greater Wheeling area since 1937.

“Easterseals is an invaluable part of our community,” PJ’s owner Erika Donaghy, said. “On a personal level, without Dr. Kitts (Easterseals medical director), I probably would not be walking today.”

The money raised on National Pizza Day will go toward providing medical and rehabilitation services to children with physical and developmental disabilities, regardless of their ability to pay. Easterseals accepts all insurances but provides over $300,000 in uncompensated care each year.

“We are hoping a lot of people will eat pizza this Thursday!” Bethel-McFarland said.

Easterseals is one of 70 affiliates of the National Easterseals. The local center provides medical services, early intervention services, child development services, autism screening and outpatient speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy. Locations include Wheeling, Steubenville, New Martinsville, Parkersburg and the newest office in Weirton. Patients must be referred to Easterseals by their primary care physician.
