Pittsburgh, PA, February 14, 2024Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania (ESWCPA) is happy to announce that its 22nd Walk With Me Pittsburgh (WWM) will be held on Saturday, May 18th.  This event gives families and friends an opportunity to unite to celebrate and support children and adults with disabilities, their families, and communities. By popular demand, Walk With Me Pittsburgh will be held at Kennywood Park.  Kennywood Park provides a comprehensive Accessibility Guide, which partners well with our mission to “Provide independence, hope, and support by leading the way to 100% equity, inclusion, and access for people with disabilities, their families, and communities.”

ESWCPA is also pleased to announce this year’s 2024 Pittsburgh Child Ambassador – Dalton - a student at one of its Approved Private Schools (east site) and son of Alexandria Sindorf.

About DaltonDalton was diagnosed as profoundly deaf at 3 months old and then diagnosed with polymicrogyria and developmental delays when he was 9 months old. Right before his 3rd birthday, Dalton suffered his first seizure and was diagnosed with a seizure disorder, as well.

Since starting with Easterseals in April of 2019, Dalton has progressed with his mobility and communication a great deal.  He is a force to be reckoned with!  Dalton brings a smile to everyone’s face and is a happy, sweet boy.  He loves anything involving water, balls, lights, and hats.  He enjoys going to baseball games and is happy doing anything outside.

About Walk With Me (WWM):  Walk With Me Pittsburgh is ESWCPA’s largest event that raises awareness and much needed funds for its mission of leading the way to 100% equity, inclusion, and access for people with disabilities, their families and communities. Walk With Me highlights how Easterseals enhances equal access to education, employment, healthcare, transportation, and community involvement for individuals with disabilities.

This event encourages families and friends to form teams to help fundraise for the vital programs and services of ESWCPA.  The $50 registration fee not only includes an event t-shirt, food & entertainment at registration and the awards ceremony but also includes full all-day admission to the park.  Prizes will be awarded to the largest fundraising team and the top three individuals.  Unable to participate?  You can still visit walkwithme.org/Pittsburgh and donate to support the day. Individual participants are welcome.

It is critical to respond to the evolving needs of 61+ million Americans with disabilities.  During the last 50 years, the United States has made significant progress in advancing disability rights and leading accessibility on a global scale, but disparities exist and persist in every community. Closing these gaps is essential for individuals with disabilities.
