A well-respected member of the legal community for more than 40 years, Stephen F. Rossman is a partner with the law firm of Rossman, Baumberger, Reboso and Spier, P.A., in Miami, a position he’s held since 1974. He earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He is a board certified civil trial lawyer and has been a member of the bar since 1966. Throughout Mr. Rossman’s career as a trial lawyer, he has served as president of the Florida Justice Association, president of the Miami-Dade Justice Association, a member of the board of governors of the American Association for Justice, and a legal advocate of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. He serves as a CLE lecturer for both the Florida Justice Association and the American Association for Justice. Mr. Rossman was also part of the University of Miami’s adjunct faculty for seven years. He has been published by the Law Review at the University of Miami and contributed a chapter to the Florida Civil Trial Practice Supplement. He has been recognized through numerous awards from the Miami-Dade Justice Association and the Florida Justice Association.
Mr. Rossman’s current community activities include his service as president of the Banyan Drive Homeowners Association and a member of the Friends of New Life Homeless Shelter. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Temple Beth Am, Pinecrest, Florida. His numerous past activities include his service on the boards of the Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities of South Florida, the University of Miami’s Citizens, and the University of Miami’s Law School Partners Program.
Mr. Rossman became involved with Easter Seals in 1984 as the parent of a child at the Easter Seals Demonstration School in Miami. He served as co-chairman of an Easter Seals South Florida capital campaign. Mr. Rossman joined the affiliate’s board in 1987, held the offices of vice chairman and chairman, and served on numerous committees over the years. Over the years, Mr. Rossman has been an enthusiastic supporter and staunch advocate of Easter Seals, its clients and services - opening up his home to host Easter Seals events and fund raisers, and recruiting new members to the affiliate board and the Presidents’ Council. He was recognized with the Easter Seals South Florida’s Special Appreciation Award in 1997 and 1998 and with its Chairman’s Award in 2004.
At the national level, Mr. Rossman represented Easter Seals South Florida as a member of Easter Seals National House of Delegates in 1997-2007 and served on the Membership & Organizational Structure (MOS) Committee. Elected to Easter Seals National Board of Directors in October 2004 and re-elected in 2007, he served as board secretary, vice chairman of the Public Affairs Committee and a member of the Executive and Finance Committees. He was elected chairman of the board and served three one-year terms in that role. Mr. Rossman serves as immediate past chairman of the board; chairman of the Executive Evaluation & Compensation Committee, and as a member of the Executive Committee.
