Chicago - October 22, 2018 – Today Easterseals announces the election of Nancy Goguen as Chair of its National Board of Directors, taking on the organization’s lead volunteer and governance role. Goguen succeeds Joe Kern, Senior Vice-President, Darden Restaurants, Inc., who served as Chairman since October 2016, and will remain on the Board of Directors as Immediate Past Chair.

“We are thrilled to have Nancy at the helm of our National Board of Directors as we approach our 100th year of impact as the leading national advocate and service provider for people with disabilities throughout the lifespan,” Angela Williams, President and CEO of Easterseals, said. “Nancy brings valuable leadership experience to the role of Chair and is committed to ensuring that people of all abilities have the resources they need to reach their potential so they can live, learn, work and play in their communities.”

Ms. Goguen’s service to Easterseals began in 2005 as a volunteer board member at Easterseals New Jersey, eventually acting as Chairman of the Board from 2009 to 2013. She was drawn to Easterseals because of its mission and deepened her involvement because of the spirit of collaboration within the nationwide organization. At the national level, she served on the Membership & Organizational Structure (MOS) Committee for a number of years, including two as chairman, as house regional liaison and as a member of the House of Delegates.

Elected to Easterseals Board of Directors in November 2010 and re-elected in 2013, Ms. Goguen served as board secretary, chairman of the Public Affairs Committee, and as a member of the Executive and House Nominating Committees. In 2016, Ms. Goguen was elected to serve as an honorary member and served on the Finance and Public Policy Committees. The following year, Ms. Goguen acted as Chair of the CEO Search Committee.

“I look forward to all that Easterseals will accomplish as we begin our second century of service to America,” said Ms. Goguen. “The impact we deliver to families and communities, the energy and passion of our organization, the dedication of our board and Angela’s leadership assure our continued leadership in the social sector in 2019 and beyond.”
