Gerard P. Mattimore retired in 2001 after 39 years with the Bayer Corporation. During that period, he held a variety of management positions ranging from sales manager to vice president of marketing. He was recognized for his consumer promotion expertise and was active in various trade organizations and as a speaker at numerous meetings and seminars. Mr. Mattimore was instrumental in beginning Easter Seals’ relationship with Bayer HealthCare more than 25 years ago and continues to champion our cause among his former Bayer colleagues today.
Mr. Mattimore served as a member of the board of Easter Seals New York for six years, including two years as chairman, and led several of the affiliate’s fund-raising events. At the national level, he served as a member of Easter Seals House of Delegates in 1987-1989 and Easter Seals Corporate Partnership Board in 1998-1999. Mr. Mattimore was elected to Easter Seals Board of Directors in November 1998 and re-elected in November 2001 to serve a second term concluding in 2004. He was elected an honorary board member in February 2005 and then elected in October 2005 to begin a new three-year term. Over the years, Mr. Mattimore served as chairman of the board for three years (2007-2010), chairman of the Affiliate Services, Fiscal, Audit and Pension Committees and a member of the Executive, Public Affairs, Governance and House Nominating Committees, as well as ad hoc committees. Elected at the October 2012 board meeting as a lifetime board member, Mr. Mattimore serves as a member of the Executive Evaluation & Compensation Committee and the Development and Marketing Committee.
