Busy Retirement Includes Making Plans to Support Easterseals

Irene was employed at Johnson & Johnson for 47 years, starting in the mailroom at age 17. She worked hard all those years, and whenever she could take a vacation, she made a point to travel—to Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and across the United States.

Today Irene is retired, but even at age 88, she hasn’t slowed down. Always active, she was an avid tennis player until she was 85—and she only stopped playing because her peers no longer played.

Irene has been just as active in her support of Easterseals. Three years ago, she established a $5,000 charitable gift annuity as a way to continue supporting our work beyond her lifetime. Later, she let us know that she had named Easterseals as the beneficiary of her Individual Retirement Account (IRA). Then, at the end of last year, Irene funded her second charitable gift annuity.

What’s behind her generosity? Irene says she has long admired our mission and that she wants to be able to help others. “Easterseals is one of my favorite charities,” she says. “They help a lot of people that need help.”

Now more than ever, Irene appreciates how important it is for all children to grow up with every chance to succeed. The proud great-grandaunt of 6-year-old twins, she says, “They have added a whole new dimension to my life. It’s fascinating to watch them develop, and I’m glad to help other children to have the same opportunity today and in the future.”

There are many satisfying and tax-wise ways to support Easterseals, and those we serve, beyond your lifetime. We invite you to contact our Gift Planning Team at giftplanning@easterseals.com or 800-221-6827, ext. 7240 to learn more.
