About Mentoring Matters:
Mentoring Matters is an important CBS4 initiative that recognizes the importance of mentoring in our community.  According to CBS 4, Research has found that students who meet frequently with a mentor are 52-percent less likely to skip school and 46-percent less likely to start using drugs. Mentored students are also 55-percent more likely to enroll in college and 81-percent more likely to participate in sports or extracurricular activities.  Mentoring can also improve a child’s health, literally.  University of Georgia researchers found African-American kids who have the emotional support of mentors did not share the same elevated risk factors as their peers for a range of chronic illnesses.  For more information regarding Mentoring Matters, please visit:  https://miami.cbslocal.com/mentoring-matters/.
