Child Development Center Teachers, Parents and Kids Grow Community Garden

Parents and children working in the garden

At the Easter Seals Child Development Center (CDC) in Upland children are helping teachers Marion Stevens and Jade Staab grow a community garden. The children have been busy pulling weeds, adding soil, creating a path and planting flowers on the preschool playground. Next they will plant vegetables that will be used in nutrition activities to promote healthy eating.

“The children will be able to see how a vegetable grows from start to finish,” says Site Director Elizabeth Conrad.  “Not only are these children learning the process of how food grows, they will also be able to taste what they have worked so hard to grow.”
