The Anaheim Ducks and Easterseals Southern California (ESSC) announced a partnership agreement today making ESSC the official disability inclusion partner for the Anaheim Ducks and the San Diego Ducks Sled Hockey program.

This new alliance incorporates a variety of activations throughout the season to further disability inclusion and educate fans about the services ESSC provides in our communities. Among partnership activations, including in-arena signage throughout the Honda Center highlighting disability inclusion, ESSC will also be the presenting sponsor at a Ducks home game during the 2024-25 season and at an Anaheim Ducks Foundation event.

Commented Nancy Weintraub, Chief Advancement Officer for ESSC, “Easterseals Disability Services could not be more thrilled to be partnering with the Anaheim Ducks for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Sharing the same values of equity and access for all, we look forward to working with both the Anaheim Ducks and the San Diego Duck Sled Hockey team in making Orange Country the most inclusive place for individuals with disabilities to live, learn, work and play!”

The partnership officially kicked off during Easterseals’ 24th annual Strides for Disability 3K and 5K—an early morning run/walk/roll that honors diversity and promotes inclusion—on Oct. 19, at Angel Stadium, where the Anaheim Ducks Wild Wing mascot and street team were present to cheer on participants. Attended by supporters of all ages, this unifying and spirited event brings together a diverse group of people, with and without disabilities, to break down barriers and show what can be possible with the right access, opportunities and support as Easterseals works to empower people with disabilities, their families and communities to be full and equal participants in society.

Since the program’s inception in 2014, the Ducks Sled Hockey program has been committed to supporting athletes with physical disabilities and their families through the adaptive sport of sled hockey. The mission of San Diego Ducks Sled Hockey is to improve the quality of life and well-being of physically disabled youth, adults and wounded veterans through the adaptive sport of sled hockey. The Ducks strive to provide a trusted team environment for disabled athletes to rehabilitate physically, reestablish self-confidence and motivation and cultivate a positive athletic identity.

Said Sarah Bettencourt, Founder and Director of Hockey Operations, Adult Team Manager and Captain of the Ducks Sled Hockey Team, “We’re honored to partner with Easterseals Southern California to provide community, therapy, adaptive sports, and fun opportunities to our athletes with physical disabilities.
