Easterseals of Southeastern Pennsylvania's corporate office in Philadelphia, PA seeks a Benefits and HRIS Specialist. Easterseals seeks a collaborative individual who desires to work in this mission-driven atmosphere supporting the staff in Human Resources, and ultimately seeks to make a difference for the staff supporting the children and families we serve. This professional will possess accuracy, ability to focus, attention to detail, timeliness and follow up skills; all are critical to success in this position. Some remote work and in person scheduling is expected for this position moving forward. Accountable for the coordination and administration of all aspects of the agency employee benefit programs as well as HRIS system data management and reporting. Benefit programs include but may not be limited to health and welfare, retirement, UC and WC coordination, and employee FMLA and other leave time. There are over 300 employees at our agency, approximately 225 of whom are eligible for benefit plans. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and manages the full cycle of the benefit enrollment process of new and newly eligible employees on all of the agency employee benefit plans, will determine eligibility for specific benefit programs based on annual hours worked and other relevant factors, and act as main HRIS reporting and HR technical contact with payroll/HRIS provider.

Basic Responsibilities:

Duties include but not limited to:

Communicate individually with new hire for enrollment, clarify questions, follow up with new hire until all information is received, present benefit information at new employee orientation. Meet and enroll new hires, and newly eligible employees. Responsible for the accurate recording of all new employees, all changes in status and terminations in the HRIS system.

Coordinate communication of employee information change documentation to Finance Department when necessary.

Record compensation increments and coordinate staff salary increase letter communications process.

Manage FMLA and personal leave time processes.  Act as main point of contact for supervisor and for staff member concerning status of eligibility for leave benefits and total leave allowance. Follow up for necessary physician certification and other documentation until received. Maintain communication in a proactive manner as concerning the depletion of leave and head off potential problems. Coordinate various disability plan activity for those who are eligible.

Manage vendor and insurance contacts, reconcile invoices, process unemployment and worker compensation claims, coordinate open enrollment in conjunction with HR Director and broker and vendor contacts, coordinate 401k auto increase and auto escalation processes, coordinate ACA and EEO reporting, create other desired reporting from HRIS system and act as main HR technical contact with payroll/HRIS provider.

Especially in slower benefit enrollment times of the year, provide other HR Generalist related work such as assisting with compliance needs of new hires of temporary non-benefit eligible summer work force, such as assisting with their background clearances and ACT 168 forms.

Some occasional travel to regional five county Southeastern PA region to divisional sites (Philadelphia and adjacent counties, five sites in total).


Job Requirements:

Working understanding of and experience with Human Resources concepts most importantly as related to benefit eligibility, FMLA, Worker Compensation, Unemployment compensation, wage and hour issues, and ACA. Working knowledge of MS Office suite and database systems.  HRIS experience preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience of the position responsibilities. B.A./B.S. degree; CEBS preferred. HR certifications PHR, SHRM-CP a plus as well. Due to the nature of our mission, documentation of successful completion and results of background clearances pursuant to work with children in the Commonwealth of PA will be required upon acceptance of contingent employment offer as well as COVID-19 vaccine.
