Work & Grow

Easterseals Work & Grow provides job coaching and development for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We partner with Greater Cincinnati businesses and nonprofits to provide job preparation and job readiness training in community settings. Participants enjoy a mix of paid work experiences, volunteer activities, social recreation, and development of independent living skills.

Easterseals Work & Grow is an ideal environment for:

  • young adults who have exited school-based services who want to gain additional work skills and career development before starting a job search
  • older adults who are interested in building skills for community employment, especially those who only have prior experience in sheltered workshop settings.

Flexible Choices for Individual Growth

Easterseals Work & Grow sites operate with a low participant-to-staff ratio to ensure each participant receives individualized attention focused on their personal growth and goals.

We offer two types of program locations based on each client’s interests and sense of independence.

Neighborhood Hubs provide a small group environment with daily learning activities and a variety of paid work and volunteer experiences.

Company Sites provide paid work experiences at a single location for those who are ready for more independence on the job, combined with social and recreational opportunities.

Our staff will work with you to decide which site is the best fit for you. They can even design a schedule that offers a mix of both experiences.

When Work & Grow participants are ready to advance into community employment, Easterseals staff can assist with additional job development, resumes, and placement.

Easterseals Work & Grow provides:

  • Real-life community experiences and support
  • Volunteer and paid work experiences
  • Supervised interaction with the local business community
  • Opportunity to try jobs and determine long-term employment goals
  • Informational job exploration and job shadowing
  • Social interaction and recreation
  • Neighborhood safety and independent living skills
  • Flexible scheduling:  attend 2 – 5 days a week

Getting Started

Your experience begins with our Community and Family Engagement Coordinator. The conversation will include gathering information so we can make a program recommendation based on individual goals, interests, and abilities.

Your family will then be invited to visit the programs in person so you can meet our staff, experience the locations, and discuss any questions you may have.

Individuals begin with a tour of a Work & Grow location and any volunteer sites scheduled for that day.
If Work & Grow feels like a good fit, we will schedule a 1- 2 day trial for a more complete program experience.
When you are ready to enroll, we’ll schedule an intake meeting to finalize your program plan and discuss further steps.
