Veterans Count Wolfeboro Pirates Cove 5K To Support Local Veterans

August 13 race benefiting New Hampshire veterans has roots in Operation Iraqi Freedo

Manchester, NH – Easterseals NH’s Veterans Count will host a 5K Fun Run & Walk Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Wolfeboro, NH. Presented by Eastern Propane & Oil, the Pirates Cove run honors the servicemen and -women who ran the first Pirates Cove 5K in 2008 in Baghdad, Iraq. The race was a morale booster for U.S. soldiers and personnel living on a former Iraqi army base. The course trail featured opulent artificial lakes created by Saddam Hussein’s regime, and the Americans nicknamed the site “Pirates Cove.”

“We are proud to support this event to benefit local service members and their families,” says Josh Anderson, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “In addition to this sponsorship, our partnership with Veterans Count and Easterseals NH donates one penny-per-gallon of propane delivered through five Veterans Count branded delivery trucks back to Veterans Count.”

The Veterans Count Wolfeboro Pirates Cove racers will have a choice of two well-maintained courses along the beautiful Cotton Valley Rail Trail on Lake Wentworth.

The online registration deadline is Friday, August 12, 2022, at noon, with race-day registration and check-in at 8:00 am. The race starts at 9:00 am, and it’s rain or shine. Visit the Veterans Count website to sign up for the race at Wolfeboro, choose a virtual race option, or donate to help area veterans. https://vetscount.org/nh/events/vetscount-wolfeboro-pirates-cove-5k-run-walk/

The Pirates Cove 5K is part of the Easterseals & Veterans Count Race Series presented by BAE Systems. Participate in 3 of 5 races and earn an official race series 1/4 zip pullover (adults-only, virtual registrations not included). Veterans Count provides critical and timely financial assistance and services to New Hampshire service members, veterans, and their families when no other resources are available to ensure their dignity, health, and overall well-being.
