Easterseals NH Military and Veterans Campus

FULLY ACCESSIBLE AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR VETERANS

Pioneering the first-of-its-kind to serve those who served.
Easterseals NH has a 15-acre campus and facilities in Franklin that will be developed into a center of excellence and first-of-its-kind in New Hampshire. The campus will provide enhanced support for military community members and their families through access to a variety of services and recreation activities in one location.

Easterseals NH was awarded $23M from the State of NH through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State Fiscal Recovery Funds(SFRF) to develop a campus for military members and their families

The campus will include: affordable rental housing apartments, retreat center, therapeutic recreation opportunities and a hub of services for the military community.

- Affordable housing: 30 units of permanent affordable rental housing for veterans;

- Hub of services with meeting and event space: Co-location of multiple military service organizations to ensure continuum of care for each visitor to the campus; and opportunities to hold events/trainings;

- Retreat center: 20 short-term rental bedrooms, some with kitchenettes; and

- Therapeutic recreation components: Access to the rail trail and Merrimack River; a to-be-built multipurpose building for equine and dog therapy, rock climbing wall, ropes course, and more; a military themed playground; and outdoor performance stage.

Process: Easterseals NH convened a taskforce made up of representatives from the military and veteran community. Over the past several months, this taskforce attended site visits of similar projects across the region, interviewed dozens of people across the state who are connected to the military and veteran community, and conducted surveys of known providers throughout New Hampshire and military connected individuals to determine the highest needs for the campus.

Timeline: Construction of the affordable housing, hub of services, and portions of the retreat center will begin in October 2023 with completion date in early 2025.

Funding: Funding: Additional funds will need to be raised to complete the retreat center, build the multipurpose therapeutic recreation building, military themed playground, and outdoor performance stage. Easterseals NH will be reaching out to corporations, foundations, and individuals to help fund the campus. Naming opportunities are available. See below for more information.

We’ve created donor naming opportunities starting at $10,000 up to $2.5M. We accept multi-year pledges.

DONOR NAMING OPPORTUNITIES COULD INCLUDE:

$10,000 - $49,999 | Accessible one- and two-bedroom apartments, retreat bedroom suites, hub of services space, reception area, wellness room, meeting and common space, and elevator to make the housing fully accessible.
$50,000 - $999,999 | Community gathering rooms, conference center, and dining/meeting space.
$1,000,000 - $2,500,000 | Building naming opportunities for affordable housing, hub of services/retreat center, multipurpose therapeutic recreation center, makerspace, outdoor music/performance stage, outdoor seating/fire pit.

As the project continues to develop, more naming opportunities may become available.

Community Engagement Process and Project Summary

In order to bring forth the first-of-its-kind military and veterans’ community in the Granite State, Easterseals NH committed to seeking robust and thorough feedback from the community. The community engagement process included creating a Campus Taskforce, attending local and regional site visits of high-quality military and veteran programs; conducting interviews and outreach with state officials, nonprofits, and other providers; creating, distributing, and analyzing surveys sent to providers and members of the military and veteran community; and more.
