For the past 12 years, Ruqayyah Cherie Bailey has been a voice for the community she serves. Ruqayyah founded and directed her own organization, Don't Quit, which was in service for three years. Ruqayyah got started with advocating for the disability community in 2008, when she faced discrimination due to her disability. Throughout Ruqayyah's advocacy journey for the disability community, she has found great peace and freedom. With this peace and freedom in mind, Ruqayyah decided to attend college at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, where she is working on her Associate's Degree in Human Services and Applied SCience. With this degree, Ruqayyah hopes to transfer to the University of Missouri - St. Louis and continue to work with children and adults with disabilities. She spends most of her free time taking care of her two fur babies, Mandy and Sassy. With the influence of her brother, she also has a newfound love for cooking. Ruqayyah also receives Community Living services from Easterseals Midwest, where she lives independently in her apartment.
