Senator Eric Schmitt | Special Guest Speaker
Sworn in on January 3, 2023, Eric Schmitt is serving his first term as a United States Senator from the State of Missouri. Eric and his wife Jaime have three children: Stephen, Sophia, and Olivia. Their son, Stephen, was born with a rare genetic condition called Tuberous Scleroris, causing tumors on his organs. He also has epilepsy, is on the autism spectrum, and is non-verbal. Stephen was Eric’s inspiration to run for public office so he could be a voice for individuals like Stephen and their families.
In 2014, Senator Schmitt worked to introduce the Achieving Life Experience (ABLE) program to allow people with disabilities to save money without losing eligibility to federal programs. Currently, Senator Schmitt is working on the bipartisan Ensuring Nationwide Access to Better Life Experience (ENABLE) Act to further allow people with disabilities and their families to save and invest through tax-free savings accounts while protecting eligibility for federal programs like Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
