-Easter Seals Maine (ESME) announced today that it has received a $25,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program.
The Walmart Foundation grant will enable the organization to hire additional staff allowing the organization’s veterans program to have an increased presence in the Lewiston/Auburn and Augusta/Waterville regions. ESME provides support services to military members and their families, including connecting them to mental and physical health services.
"Our board, staff, and volunteers are truly honored to have this continued support from the Walmart Foundation for our work with veterans," said Easter Seals Maine Development Director Kelly Couture." The grant allows us to continue to serve recent-era service members, veterans and their families statewide, helping to assure their independence, dignity, health and well-being. We could not be more grateful to have the Walmart Foundation assist us in our mission to help Maine service members, veterans and their families live better."
“We are proud to support Easter Seals Maine and its commitment to improving the lives of this state’s veterans,” said Chris Buchanan, Walmart Director of Public Affairs & State and Local Government Relations. “Like Easter Seals Maine, Walmart is committed to supporting our nation’s military and military families as they transition home. Since launching our veterans’ initiative in May 2013, Walmart has hired nearly 67,861 veterans, guaranteeing any honorably discharged veteran with a job within the first 12 months of separation from service. We thank Easter Seals Maine for their honorable and tireless work and look forward to continuing to work together.”
