The Winey Baker selected “best dish” at 5th Annual Toast on the Coast
More than 200 people come out to support local nonprofit, Easter Seals Maine
PORTLAND, ME- More than 200 people toasted to a great cause on April 21st at Portland’s Ocean Gateway for the 5th annual Toast on the Coast presented by Prime Mercedes, netting $22,300 to support Easter Seals Maine.
In a new twist for the annual event, guests voted for their favorite dish of the evening by casting votes in support of the evening’s elected “best dish”. The first “best dish” designation was given to The Winey Baker. Jill Drew, Owner/Cake Designer of The Winey Baker, had an array of desserts including Dark Chocolate Brownie Whoopie Pies with Salted Caramel Filling, Oatmeal Cream Pies, Berry Cherry Pies Topped with Vanilla Cream, Mini Lemon Cakes with Blueberry Filling and Blueberry Buttercream, Flourless Chocolate Cakes with Ganache Filling and Vanilla Buttercream and French Hot Chocolate.
Runners-up for best dish were the CVC Catering Group (2nd place), MK Kitchen and the Brunswick Inn and Tavern (tied for third).
In addition to the “best dish” addition, Easter Seals Maine raffled off a 7-day trip to Napa and Sonoma Valleys, a wine lovers dream vacation. The winner was Ingrid Martin. A video featuring two of Easter Seals Maine’s clients helped drive home the true reason for gathering that evening, to help support a local nonprofit. The evening has a good cause at its core, benefiting Easter Seals Maine. Easter Seals Maine is an umbrella organization which serves a range of people from children and adults with developmental disabilities to veterans and military families. Located in Portland, Easter Seals Maine recently has spread services statewide and says this fundraiser is crucial to supporting that growth.
