Heroes Wall Expands Thanks to ABC Builders

Local monument expands to honor more heroes

Thanks to the generosity of Associated Builders and Contractors of Maine, a local monument to honor veterans has expanded to allow for more heroes to be honored.

The Veterans Count Easter Seals Maine Heroes Wall is a permanent monument to honor our military heroes past and present. The public can purchase tiles with their hero's name AND IMAGE in honor or memory of a US military hero, and 50% of each purchase will benefit Easter Seals Maine's military and veteran services.  Until recently, there was one section of wall available to honor military heroes- however with the donation by Associated Builders and Contractors an additional section now allows more heroes to take a place of honor.

“The Associated Builders and Contractors of Maine, whose members come from across the state, have time and again stepped up to the plate to support Maine’s veterans – and the building and donation of Maine’s second Heroes Wall is just the latest example of their rock-solid commitment to those who have worn the cloth of our Nation,” said Charlie Summers, Veterans Count Executive Director for Northern New England. “This second wall was built in record time so that all who wish to memorialize the service of someone close to them can continue to do so without interruption. The members of ABC and, indeed, everyone who has helped in this effort are true patriots and Veterans Count is so very fortunate to have their support.”

“The Members of the Associated Builders & Contractors of Maine are honored to support our Veterans,” says Hope Perkins, President and CEO of Associated Builders and Contractors of Maine.  “Through building the 2nd Heroes Wall in Maine, we are able to show Maine Veterans the pride we have and show the appreciation each deserves. This wall will serve as one more reminder of the sacrifices each have made for our country.”

The veteran hero can be from anywhere in our great country, but all the funds raised stay in Maine to help Maine's military and veteran families. Packages can be upgraded to include an additional slate to keep at home or memorial site.  This beautiful tribute is a permanent fixture located on the Dimillo's Boardwalk, stop by and see the tiles already there- then contact Easter Seals Maine to add YOUR HERO!

The monument benefits Easter Seals Maine Military and Veterans Services program, which serves veterans and their families statewide often when no other resources are available. The organization provides emergency financial assistance, helps avert homelessness, and helps provide mental health services to the entire family.  Free and confidential, services can also include navigating military benefits, connecting with community resources, employment assistance, and removing barriers to employment.

An unveiling ceremony is planned for November 9th with a fundraising breakfast.

All tiles are beautifully laser-inscribed by Get Etched, located in Yarmouth and Paul G. White donates the installation of the tiles.
