Hundreds of riders and teams trotted into Easterseals Iowa Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines April 20 delivering donations.  The Pony Express Riders of Iowa hold fundraisers in their Iowa counties and deliver the donations to Camp Sunnyside on Easter weekend each year. The amount raised this year topped $254,000. The group has raised more than $10 million in its 51-year history to support Easterseals Iowa and Camp Sunnyside.

Pony Express Riders of Iowa Founders Stub Johnson, Leo Gray, and Wayne Neilson had the idea to ride "Pony Express Style" county to county, not to carry mail but to carry money to help Iowa children and adults with disabilities. The first ride held March 30, 1968 raised $12,000 in northwest Iowa. The success spurred them to expand the ride throughout the state the following year, and the ride has continued ever since. www.ponyexpressridersofiowa.org
