Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore earned the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in a recent survey of services. CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body for health and human services that evaluates the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services.
CARF identified 33 specific strengths, breaking the record for Easterseals, in awarding the highest accreditation level.
“It’s extremely gratifying to see that Easterseals has once again obtained the three-year accreditation from CARF, based on a rigorous examination of our services. It’s even more gratifying that we not only received an exceptional survey report, but were also recognized for the many strengths our organization has ,” Easterseals President/CEO, Kenan Sklenar, said. “Every day we strive to provide our participants and their families with the best programs and services. The accreditation validates that we are achieving our goal.”
The CARF report noted 33 specific areas of strength for Easterseals, including the following:
“Easterseals has an extremely deep commitment to its mission, vision and values; to providing quality person-driven services and to quality improvement.”
“Easterseals’ staff exhibit a high level of professionalism, compassion and commitment to the persons served which is evidenced throughout services and praised by the persons served, families and care partners, funding sources and other staff members.” “The quality of the services is enhanced by their dedication, teamwork and long tenure with the organization.”
“The needs and interests of the persons served are the overriding focus across the organization. Staff members describe this person-first philosophy as the basis for what they do and how they do it.”
“Numerous and excellent partnerships and collaborative efforts have been developed throughout the community, including the student internship programs with local universities and the successful Supported Employment Summer Internship program and partnership with Best Buddies.”
“Staff members are recognized for providing a variety of opportunities for community integration activities, whether through volunteer work or recreational activities. The variety of activities is further enhanced by volunteers who come to the organization to provide an array of activities across programs.”
Accredited programs include: Senior Services, Outpatient Rehabilitation Therapy, Assistive Technology, Adult Day programs, Intellectual Disabilities services and Supported Employment. Easterseals administrative practices were also evaluated, which include areas, such as: leadership, strategic planning, finance, and human resources.
