2. Sound play: Fill some small containers (not clear ones!) with different materials- one type per container. Some ideas are cotton balls, rice, beans, rocks, salt, or anything else you would like to try! Children can explore which ones are louder/softer. These can make great instruments and older children might even try guessing what’s inside. You might consider taping or gluing the containers closed to prevent a mess or eating of non-food items.
3. Building independence: Does your child have a toddler sized bed? If so, show them how to make their bed, allow them the opportunity to try on their own. This is not the time to turn this into a chore, they will enjoy helping and being able to do this on their own. Practice makes perfect. Eventually it will turn into a routine. Let them help with choices like “should we put the pillow inside the covers or on top?” “Should we pull the blanket up or fold it down?” You will likely have to show the options for them to choose. At the end ask questions like “which stuffy do you want to leave on your bed?”
